My Review:

I love the adult coloring books that have become so popular. You can get them with flowers, inspirational, animals, houses and even fashion. The "Paris Street Style" Coloring Book is a beautiful coloring book filled with pages of fashion, scenes in Paris and abstract art. It even has a satin bookmark and elastic to close it. I enjoy coloring for it relieves stress by helping me concentrate on what colors I want to use so my brain can take a break. This is a well put together book with a high end feel.

Karen

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Welcome to the blog tour for Jen Turano's latest book "Playing the Part."

About the Book

final ptp cover.jpgLucetta Plum is an actress on the rise in New York City, but is forced to abandon her starring role when a fan’s interest turns threatening. Lucinda’s widowed friend, Abigail Hart, is delighted at the opportunity to meddle in Lucetta’s life and promptly whisks her away to her grandson’s estate to hide out. Bram Haverstein may appear to simply be a somewhat eccentric gentleman of means, but a mysterious career and a secret fascination with a certain actress mean there’s much more to him than society knows. Lucetta, who has no interest in Abigail’s matchmaking machinations, has the best intentions of remaining cordial but coolly distant to Bram. But when she can’t ignore the strange and mysterious things going on in his house, it’ll take more than good intentions to keep her from trying to discover who Bram is behind the part he plays.

My Review:
An excellent book!! I love Jen Turano's books and have read every one of them and look forward to future books. She had her own distinctive writing skills. Once you begin to read you will be hooked. She weaves humor, mystery, suspense and spiritual lessons through out her books. Regarding her latest release of "Playing the Part", it is a must read book. Her quirky characters are back and you can't help but love them. Lucetta Plum is a bit of a oddity but she fits right in with the other characters of the book. Bram and her are a great fit as they both have their own distinctive style. You will love the characters, seek to find the offender and cheer when Lucetta discovers her true love!

But after one of her photographs is found at a murder scene, it's clear that Special Agent Rex Sullivan was right. Lily, a former CIA agent, isn't used to relying on others, but she won't survive without Rex at her side. And Rex quickly sees that Lily isn't a typical victim in need of his protection, but a valuable partner who can help him bring down a madman. With the murderer growing bolder, Rex has to convince Lily to trust him with her safety—or she could become the killer's next victim.

MY BOOK REVIEW

I finished reading Rachel Dylan's "Picture Perfect Murder" and it is a great suspense/thriller. It will have you guessing who the killer it throughout the whole book. Just when you think you know the investigation spins you around to a different person. I so enjoy when dogs are written in the story and you will love Grace! So put on your Sherlock Holmes hat and be prepared to do some deep investigating!!

I wonder how many of you have seen the movie "War Room." It is an excellent movie about the power of prayer. Priscilla Shirer starred as the leading female character. She also is the author of "Fervent" a book of A Woman's Battle
Plan for Serious, Specific and StrategicPrayer.

My Review: A practical and scripture filled guide to fervent prayer. Prayer needs to be taken seriously and learned to be passionate in one's prayers. This takes time and effort. Read this book to learn more of how to be an effective prayer. As Clara said in the movie "Raise'em up Lord! Raise'em up!

Blessings,
Karen
You have an enemy...and he's dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What's more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn't general or generic, not a one-size-fits-all. It's specific. Personalized. Targeted. Fervent, by Priscilla Shirer, is your chance to strike back. Each chapter will guide you in crafting prayer strategies that hit the enemy where it hurts, letting him know you're on to him and that you won't back down. Because with every new strategy you build, you're turning the fiercest battles of life into precise strikes against him and his handiwork, each one infused with the power of God's Spirit.

Got words? Oh yeah, you do! The average women speaks over 20,000 a day—not to mention the ones she types online. Karen Ehman—a woman whose words have often landed her in a heap of trouble— shares from experience the how’s (and how-not-to’s) of dealing with the tongue in her new book Keep It Shut . Using biblical examples, as well as Karen’s own personal (and sometimes painful!) stories, Keep It Shut will equip you to know what to say, how best to say it, and when you’d better just keep your lips zipped!

This book will teach you:
• The difference between gossip and properly processing with a trusted friend
• A helpful grid for using our digital tongues as we talk online or on social media
• How to pause before you pounce, attacking the problem but not the person
• How to avoid saying something permanently painful just because you are temporarily ticked off
• What the Bible teaches about making our speech laced with grace, as sweet as honey, and yet seasoned with salt

My Review:  Controlling our tongue is one of the hardest disciplines there is in our Christian Walk. This book is filled with helpful hints to use when it comes to our speech. What we say either builds or tears down. Karen Ehman does an excellent job in teaching about this topic. It is a every day struggle to watch what we say or post. This is a book everyone (whether female or male) should read.

Forgotten Past

MARCH 11, 2016

Faith McKenzie was the only survivor of a brutal home invasion. Viciously attacked and left for dead, Faith can't remember anything about that night—including the identity of the killer. All she knows is that he's stalking her from every place she flees and has tracked her to a small Maine island. Her neighbor, private investigator and security specialist JT Wyatt, rescues her twice. Now JT is insisting on the whole story—a story that Faith can't remember. Desperate to feel safe, Faith puts her trust in the handsome P.I. Yet a killer is dead set on ensuring that Faith's memory never returns.

MARY ALFORD was inspired to become a writer after reading romantic suspense greats Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney. Soon creating characters and throwing them into dangerous situations that test their faith came naturally for Mary. In 2012 Mary entered the Speed Dating contest hosted by Love Inspired Suspense and later received “the call”. Writing for Love Inspired Suspense has been a dream come true for Mary.

My Review:  This is the first book I've read by Mary Alford and I am now on my second. This book "Forgotten Past" jumps in quick with suspense and mystery. It delivers goose bumps and edge of your seat drama. A Must Read!

Blessings,

Karen

A Riveting Cold-Case Mystery from Dee Henderson
Evie Blackwell loves her life as an Illinois State Police Detective . . . mostly. She's very skilled at investigations and has steadily moved up through the ranks. She would like to find Mr. Right, but she has a hard time imagining how marriage could work, considering the demands of her job.

Gabriel Thane is a lifetime resident of Carin County and now its sheriff, a job he loves. Gabe is committed to upholding the law and cares deeply for the residents he's sworn to protect. He too would like to find a lifetime companion, a marriage like his parents have.

When Evie arrives in Carin, Illinois, it's to help launch a new task force dedicated to reexamining unsolved crimes across the state. Spearheading this trial run, Evie will work with the sheriff's department on a couple of its most troubling missing-persons cases. As she reexamines old evidence to pull out a few tenuous new leads, she unearths a surprising connection . . . possibly to a third cold case. Evie's determined to solve the cases before she leaves Carin County, and Sheriff Thane, along with his family, will be key to those answers.

My Review:

I became a big fan of Dee Henderson's from the moment I picked up her first book in the O'Malley's series. I willingly lose sleep to finish one of her books. I just cannot put them down often finishing reading one book in a day's time. How excited I get when I see she has a new release coming. Traces of Guilt is a riveting suspense filled book that literally is action packed from page one to the end. It will definitely keep you turning the pages and trying to solve the cases with Evie and Gabe. Well Done Dee!

Blessings,

Karen

MARCH 1, 2016

Today is release day for Lisa Harper's new Bible Study - "The Gospel of Mark".

Image of The Gospel of Mark: The Jesus We're Aching For- Study Guide

Immediately. Let’s go. Right away. Now. Get up. Then … Mark’s narrative moves quickly and you sense the action in the story of Jesus’ life. It’s teaching presented as the gospel – good news powerfully announced in a world of bad news. This gospel emphasizes not only that Jesus is “the Son of God” (1:1; 15:39) but also that this fact demands a response. The Gospel of Mark highlights Jesus’ unparalleled spiritual power and authority, leading us to consider for ourselves the question, “Who do you say that I am?” (Mark 8:29)

The Gospel of Mark: the Jesus we’re aching for partners the compassion of Jesus with the passion of Christ. We see how the heart of God is moved by the heart of humanity and His response to our loud cry for help. We discover the world-changing result of being recipients of His compassion and the reason for His passion, all the way to the cross.

Ultimately, Mark intends for the action-packed presentation of who Jesus is to lead us to acknowledge Jesus, find salvation in Him, and follow Him.

I had the privilege of hearing Lisa speak at our Baptist Convention Women's Retreat a few year back and I'm excited that she will be this year's speaker at the retreat. She isn't just a great speaker but she is a woman who is down to earth, passionate in her love for Jesus and will captivate you when she shares what God has done in her life.

Blessings,

Karen
