Mysterious Disappearances                                              Taint the Chicago World’s Fair
Step into True Colors -- a new series of Historical Stories of Romance and American Crime

While attending the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893, Winnifred Wylde believes she witnessed a woman being kidnapped. She tries to convince her father, an inspector with the Chicago police, to look into reports of mysterious disappearances around the White City. Inspector Wylde tries to dismiss her claims as exaggeration of an overactive imagination, but he eventually concedes to letting her go undercover as secretary to the man in question—if she takes her pistol for protection and Jude Thorpe, a policeman, for bodyguard.

Will she be able to expose H. H. Holmes’s illicit activity, or will Winnifred become his next victim?

MY THOUGHTS:
A riveting, on the edge of your seat story that keeps you turning the page. This book is remarkably written around a true story set during the The World's Fair in Chicago. The author Grace Hitchcock is a talented writer as she brings this story to life. I read this book in 1 1/2 days, I couldn't put it down. I even ate my meals with this book open in front of me as I was eager to see how it ended and if the killer was caught. If you love suspense and thrillers, this is the book for you. Grace Hitchcock (love this name) pulls the story together by adding her style of romance and adventure to this novel. I'll be looking to read more books by Grace.
